Mariam, a member of the Lemu Women Rice processors in Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, Nigeria faced different challenges such as using traditional rice farming practices which resulted in low profit, inadequate aggregation centers and high interest loan rates. However, AGRA’s intervention changed their narrative by organizing trainings and establishing linkages to source finance. In her words, “the benefits of AGRA teaching us how to properly process rice without stones and chaff has increased profitability of how much we sell a mudu of rice; previously unprocessed rice sold for three hundred to three hundred and fifty naira only (N300-350) now processed rice sells for between four hundred and fifty and five hundred naira (N450-500).

With the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revised forex policy excluding Maize from the list of commodities eligible to obtain FX from the CBN. We put a series of webinars involving relevant stakeholders to discuss the new policy.
